Transgender Day of Remembrance event in Kiev (Photo: Nikita Karimov) Within the project, the transgender community held a public demonstration, organised by Insight and dedicated to Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDoR) on the 20th of November 2016 in Kyiv. About two dozen people came to pay their respects to the memory of the trans people who were killed or driven to suicide, with some people carrying portraits of some of the victims. Before they held a moment of silence, they arranged candle-lit lanterns in the shape of the transgender symbol. Activists also held a banner saying “No to Transphobic Violence”. The purpose of this demonstration was to draw public attention to the issue of transphobia and its fatal consequences.
