On the 14th of October 2016, a transgender woman was attacked in one of the districts of Tbilisi, on the territory of an abandoned building, by a man. Victim was attacked by a blunt item and sustained injuries to the face and neck. The transgender woman died after being in a coma for 40 days, on November 22nd 2016. The aggressor was arrested several days after incident. He testified in his statement that he knew the victim previously from prison, and on the day of murder, he went there to speak with her. During their meeting, the accused man was under the influence of alcohol and had an argument with the victim. He got angry after their argument and took a brick and hit victim in the face with it and subsequently took a kitchen knife and inflicted several injuries with it. With the intention to kill the victim, he took the brick again and used it to hit the victim in the face. Victim was unconscious and the perpetrator believed her to be dead.
